Something I am always forgetting how to do and have to Google for each time is how to find your Ubuntu version.
Open an ssh terminal and type:
cat /etc/lsb-release
this will then show:
DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=10.04
DISTRIB_CODENAME=lucid
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS"
